in reply to Cody's comment
tree planting not part of bid
"X species as determined by engineer"
remove trees from budget
in reply to Eric's comment
This ribbon is the bevel required for PIP to dive into EWF. It is 1' wide. Playground update will show a ribbon on the nature play side as well.
in reply to Eric's comment
Meeting with lighting vendors this week. Want to find a nice solar light attachment that can go on existing poles if possible.
in reply to Cody's comment
Asphalt trail to be 10' wide the entire way? Is 8' wide enough for access? that is a std width an easy to price out.
in reply to Eric's comment
We show 31 trees including shade trees and fruiting trees. I assume TT has limits on species they can source? Are we locating on plans? Are all 50 trees going in this park?
in reply to Eric's comment
We will want BMP on south side of path so we dont drain across path or have to create structures under the path.
We know there's some concrete debris in this area. Does it make sense to include a budget line item for removal just in case?
We might consider trying out a few of the "innovatrees"
Nice to add a tree here to provide shade for swings
in reply to Eric's comment
Just kidding
Certainly possible, will need to check with Public Works on their availability
in reply to Eric's comment
TBD if our crew will be able to take this down in time
Include in scope
Relocate picnic area here for easier access and maintenance?
in reply to Eric's comment
or if raingarden/bmp is necessary, can it be relocated here?
Is it possible to fix this odd grading?
ADA ramp
Lighting plan? Could add LED to existing poles
Would prefer not to put stairs if possible
What is this ribbon? Concrete?
Possibly relocate bench to south/west playground
park sign
Tree Trust is prepared to plant 50 trees with their existing funding.
in reply to Eric's comment
Just kidding... can't figure out how to delete comments haha
in reply to Ross's comment
On second thought, I think the layout as drawn is preferred. This connects into the sidewalk system. Likely fewer impacts from the driveway as opposed to having people walk in the street. And if we don't connect to the sidewalk, people will form a goat path anyhow.
Another private encroachment?!?
Face Bidwell
Location for art?
Probably one sign about the history. Don't need the others. Include in scope.
Could also consider shrubs here. Adding winter interest would be nice - arbor vitae, birch/aspen, red twig dogwood, etc.
Low-cost, low-maintenance preferred
Likely art bench location (paid for with AARP grant)
I'm assuming we'd combine with playground-bench direct purchase.
Prefer backs and armests.
I'm agnostic. I don't think we need anything more than shown.
Should size for ADA
From an accessibility standpoint, I think it'd be good to include a handrail. Given it's location next toe the playground, I imagine it'll become a thing for kids to hang on.
in reply to Ross's comment
Certainly, something I'm open to, especially as I'm expecting tariffs to impact costs. We likely need to reduce.
It looks like trees could be offset a few more feet from the trail. Helps with plowing, maintenance, etc.
Suggestion
2.5-3" caliper trees are good. We have a standard plate we could share from engineering, if needed.
Suggestion
Raingardens are tough maintenance items. Infiltration will ultimately be impossible without bringing in new soils. Drainage swale next to trail will also need maintained.
Question
Any access points into the Lawn?
Suggestion
- For cost savings now and for future maintenance, an asphalt trail would be beneficial for the perimeter and entrance points from Dodd & Winona. We could have a concrete apron at each entrance, and transition to asphalt. Concrete could still be used around the playground/hangout areas in the north west corner.
concrete here would look nice I would just make the loop trail asphalt.
Raingardens are high maintenance if you want them to look nice and stay functional. Does Park Maintenance want that burden?
Where is the overflow? If it's a swale how it will it stay clear of leaves and debris to ensure it flows as needed. Is there an underground drain option instead of a swale ? Where does overflow tie into existing storm?
ALT alignment would be preferred to get peds away from active driveway apron.
