Miesville Ravine Park Reserve Improvements: DD Set Review

Review & Comment on the DD Set Prior to the 7/16 Core Team Meeting!

The project team has been advancing the design for the Lower Trout Brook and Cannon River Trailheads at Miesville Ravine Park Reserve and the DRAFT Design Development Set is ready for Core Team review. Please take a spin through these drawings and specifications and provide comments or notes for discussion by End of Day Tuesday 7/15 so that we can discuss together on Wednesday 7/16. Use the capsule-shaped drop down menu on the left side of the navigation bar (next to the "Full Screen" icon) to select from the LA, Civil, and Architecture drawing sheets. The project's outline specifications and product sheets for seed mixes and light fixtures are also available for review.

At Wednesday's Core Team meeting, we will provide project updates and then run through the set together, focusing on comments and questions. Our discussion will be the most productive if all come to the meeting familiar with the set. The design team will work to address Core Team comments in the week following the meeting. A final DD set will be issued at the end of July, and will form the foundation for our Construction Documents for permitting in August.

Looking forward to talking through this with you!

Review with Kurt Coudron
switch to railroad rails rather than the ties
wrap 3' walkway around restroom for door access
just keep swamp white oak in center- add shrubs
Add draintile with gate valve as an option if drainage is not as good as geotech says
remove boulders in front of path
Small Interpretive Sign
in reply to Dylan's comment
I am wondering if we shall use single signage per figure 4.3.1 (small or large depending on the information page 66-67)
Question
Is there are reference images of the plank path?
Question
are we keeping the existing material while modify the grading. Or we are adding new crushed limestone in the entire half mile loop?
Suggestion
shall we relocate near to the entrance plaza so that it is more visible?
in reply to Dylan's comment
If not, please let us know what the County would like to use for the standard kiosk design. We have been referencing the County's standards.
in reply to Dylan's comment
Noted. These are from the county park standards, and picnic tables will be provided by the county, not the contractor, so the picnic table detail will be removed from the set that goes out for bid.
No Ipe
Are we still doing four-sided kiosk with cases?
Suggestion
Pedestrian path is seems really narrow, if there is not enough space, we should have no side walk instead of narrow one.
Suggestion
Show county boundary on all drawings
in reply to Dan Leighton's comment
We can revise these per your current standards. We were using what was shown on the County standard details.
in reply to Dan Leighton's comment
These drawings show a solar light at the Lower Trout Brook Trailhead (because it is quite far from the only electrical utility box on site) and 2 wired light poles at the Cannon River Trailhead (one near the restroom building and one near the portable restrooms at the water access). Wired lighting may be an alternate if needed.
Question
Are we using solar lights?
Suggestion
We do not paint the recessed band
Suggestion
Typically, our signposts are 4x4 cedar
