Suggestion
Love the idea, but we need legislative changes to allow this.

Sounds like there is a new buyer for this building. Could be closing on the purchase within the next week or two?
replies
Suggestion
This needs to be discussed more. I'm struggling to understand these needs. The 2020 Main Street project enhanced pedestrian safety and current design standards of the City include "multi-model" design.

Question
Is it better to say "income-based" housing over "low-income" housing? Just wondering if the term "low-income" will be misconstrued by the public that doesn't under the different language types for housing (workforce, low-income, section 8, etc.)
replies
Suggestion
The site is owned by the City. You could say it has been marketed by the EDA
replies
Suggestion
Do we include anything regarding the Park Elementary Remodel?
replies
Question
Is there any need to include the new apartments that just went up on the north side of town?
replies
Suggestion
Actual name is Hutchinson Dental Center
replies
Suggestion
I don't believe students are helping maintain parks. The City and School district have a partnership and the City takes care of most of the schools sports fields and gets paid a fee for doing so. This is the partnership. Volunteering is still important in general.

Suggestion
pickle ball or some other amenity as an option as well.

Do we want to say biking, walking, etc? It is a multi-use trail including horses.
replies
Suggestion
This section needs refinement. We discussed this during the Teams call last week.
replies
Suggestion
We need to communicate to everyone not just rural communities.
replies
Suggestion
The fairgrounds is actually very well used and is used for much more than the fair and a few other events. The issue is better coordination and promotion of events and getting a few more larger events.
replies
Suggestion
Should it be called a culture center or community center? I prefer community.
replies
Suggestion
I like the teen aspect but the idea of 3rd spaces shouldn't be limited just to teens. I actually think it has more applicability to adults.
replies
Suggestion
Is create too strong? Should be say study the creation of a social district.
replies
Suggestion
Remove...MITGI is going to have their own employee space there but we should note connection Veterans Park and Main St along the North side of First Ave NE.
replies
Suggestion
I don't think outdoor dining is feasible on Main St. It is very loud with all of the truck traffic and we just redid Main St and MnDOT barely let us put benches and trash collection up let along tables and chairs for dining. Focus on back entrance patios and side streets for dining.
replies
Suggestion
Remove. We studied this and it isn't feasible.
replies
Suggestion
This trail can go from Girl Scout Park to the new development at franklin Street but as we studied the Franklin Development further it was difficult to fit a trail in and we think the best connection is going around the proposed Franklin Redevelopment.
replies
Suggestion
Could we have a map showing existing network and then what is missing? I think our network is very robust. We are a silver designated bicycle friendly city which is not an easy thing to accomplish.
replies
Suggestion
I think this may stay industrial but we want to clean and high quality.
replies
Suggestion
Would like to see some numbers on "affordability". I've been told that a lot of the housing in Hutchinson meets the affordable definition as compared to housing in the metro. I still think it is good to focus on workforce housing and affordable but I think we are pretty affordable compared to many places.
replies
Suggestion
might be better to say a downtown business group would be helpful. The old downtown business association was great but ran its course. It would be good to have a new group start up fresh in my opinion. That's no disrespect to the previous downtown business group.
replies
Suggestion
focus on west side of Bluff Street. I don't see the east side transitioning away from industrial due to the shape of the parcel and because the City uses the area to the south to pile snow. The area to south is in the floodplain.
replies
Suggestion
We may want to note this as a site for residential. The site was recently listed by Colliers and they have had interest in the site for senior housing/high density housing. Office medical would also work. Access is very difficult to this site and no access is allowed off Hwy 15.
replies
Suggestion
We might have to soften this. They have plans for growth and they don't see that they have an excess of parking.
replies
Question
Is this owned by the City or the EDA?
replies
Suggestion
I think we can talk about integration and accessibility and take out the part about reducing automobile dependency.
replies
Suggestion
I need to see examples where out bike and ped network is lacking connectivity.
replies
Question
What are some examples of City agencies needing better collaboration?
replies
Suggestion
City and EDA already work together and the EDA has many downtown programs. Need to understand more about this "program"
replies
Suggestion
Not sure where this type of thinking is coming from??? The Crow River is very connected. It is not a full scale boating river due to the shallow depth. The downtown is connected to several trails that go all over town.
replies
Suggestion
Interest rates have been trending down since this project started.
replies
Question
What does this mean?
replies
Suggestion
I think this statement is completely false.
replies
Suggestion
Not sure I would highlight one specific business. There are many employment generators downtown.
replies
Suggestion
Main St. Reconstruction and Streetscape Project completed.
replies
Suggestion
Downtown Gateway and Wayfinding Signage installed.
replies
Suggestion
Fireman's Park

Please add Lynn Neumann as City Staff below where rest of staff is listed.
