Thompson Park Pollinator Promenade DD Set

Core Team Review

The Design Development Set for the Pollinator Promenade was submitted for pricing in mid-February and is posted for your review below. The last sheet of the set shows the alternates that were priced:

  • Alternate 1 replaces the native planting beds at the north end of the Promenade with a seed mix instead of plugs (seeding this area will be the base project moving forward, and plug plantings will be an "add" if bids come in favorably).
  • Alternate 2 replaces the proposed custom corten fence around the lake outlet with a pre-fab fence and removes the poured concrete bench and bench-mounted interpretive panel from the circular plaza on the north end. Pricing for the fence came in quite high and it will be removed from the project moving forward. The bench and panel will remain in the base bid moving forward.

Future Add/Alternates:

In order to keep the anticipated cost of the base project within budget, light poles along the bituminous path and the neighborhood connection to the River to River Greenway (small plaza with benches, connection to Sperl Street, and associated plantings) will both be included as "adds" in the bid, with the light poles being the priority "add" should bids come in favorably.

Following our Core Team Meeting on Friday 3/7, the design team will restructure the drawings to reflect the above Add/Alternates that will optimize bidding. Please review the drawings with these in mind and come to the Core Team Meeting with any comments or questions. Your feedback will help us refine the design as we move toward 60% Construction Documents in the next few weeks.
